It’s August, which means school is almost here, which means summer is almost over! So before you start planning back-to-school shopping and carpools, it’s time to get your last summer adventure – why not plan a staycation here at Reston Town Center?

Staying in town is the new exotic vacation – low travel costs, no airports lines and no beach traffic!  Relaxing at the Hyatt Regency Reston could be just what you need to unwind, especially since all of Reston Town Center is within walking distance for shopping and dining, salons, fun activities nearby, shady strolls in the evenings and plenty of events for entertainment.

It’s easy to spend an entire afternoon shopping with more than 50 shops – there’s something for everyone in the family.  And when your feet need a break, there are more than 30 restaurants spanning a cultural rainbow of cuisine. Several of the restaurants have beautiful patios to relax, recharge and enjoy the charm and elegance around you.

If you need a day to recover from all that walking and deciding whether or not you like those shoes, one of the full-service beauty salons & spas can take care of you. Try a cut and style, mani/pedi, or the massages and stress-relieving treatments that will make you want to stay forever.

For the more explorative minds, only nine miles away from Reston is the largest collection of aviation and space artifacts in the world at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.  This museum houses aircrafts like The Discovery space shuttle and the Enola Gay, the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb, while offering several IMAX movies and a flight simulator.

If you’re looking to take the kids for a day of outdoor activities, the Reston Zoo is three miles down the road with walking paths and exhibits, a petting barn and zoofari wagon rides. The 30-acre outdoor zoo hosts barn and exotic animals of all kinds like llama & alpacas, monkeys & lemurs, ostrich, rhea & emu, piglets, porcupines, lambs, kangaroos, goats and more. And for those relaxing evenings, maybe take in a movie or a weekend concert.  Bow Tie Cinemas has several showings of the most recent releases in newly renovated theaters with options for the whole family. If you’d rather be outside enjoying the weather as the sun sets, grab a blanket and check out the Concerts on the Town on Saturday nights from 7:30 – 10 pm in the Pavilion with musical styles ranging from 40s hits to flamenco and New Orleans-style swing.

Can you feel the relaxation calling you? Don’t hesitate, just book a room and send summer off with one last adventure!
